AB 2782 Lawsuit Update
As you are aware, Western Manufactured Homes Association (WMA) and Sandalwood Estates, LLC, filed a lawsuit against Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta in their official capacities in late December 2023 for declaratory and injunctive relief to overturn Assembly Bill 2782 that eliminated long term leases from exemption under local rent control.
On December 13, 2024, the Supreme Court of the State of California held a Hearing on Motion for Preliminary Injunction and the matter was argued and submitted. At this time, the Court has taken the matter under submission and decision is yet to be made.
